Dystopian Wars: French Dreadnought!

The Republique of France have held a special place in my heart since I first saw their flying battleships. Now they have had their new models shipped to locations across the world and ill be picking up my starter fleet next week. One thing bothered me, will the French get a dreadnought or will they rely on their tricky flying pocket battleships and air supremacy? Reading the rules of Dystopian Wars it has become fairly clear to me that this is a slug fest game and trickery is probably not going to be enough. Enter the Charlemagne Class:

The best way to describe it is 'freakishly large', while I am not quite certain if I will get one for my fleet or not - I can at least say that Spartan Games is doing their best to get out models for new factions as quickly as possible. How long did we wait for Thunder Wolves again....

Dystopian Wars: Magenta Class Battleship

While at my local gaming store the other night the owner asked if I was serious about the French fleet idea I had been spouting awhile ago. Of course I replied that I’m always super serious and of course I will be building a French fleet who whoop his Prussians with. With a smile on his face he pulled out one of the Gen-con only Magenta Class Battleships for the Republique of France fleet. Thus did I plop down 27.99 for the ship and happily brought her back to her new home in my basement…

Dystopian Wars: Something Different

When I first walked into the local game store the owner, who's name and location I leave out to protect the innocent, was playing a game with some odd little ships on a table. He was quite excited about the game and even though it was the first time he had ever seen me, he enthusiastically tried to show me what it was all about. Despite all his enthusiasm I was immediately turned off by the ridiculous paddle wheels on the side of the 'American' ships. The theme, mechanics and background were completely irrelevant to me because of those god forsaken paddle wheels. Yes, those gigantic things on the side of this aircraft carrier are paddle wheels.
